Catalogue published on the occasion of Pakistan's participation at Art Dubai 2008. 'Desperately Seeking Paradise' demonstrates Pakistan's contribution to contemporary art in Asia. This project hopes to awaken experiences of eleven leading artists against a backdrop of recent events in Pakistan. According to Salma Tuqan, Director of the Pakistan Pavilion, 'There is no greater need for expressing creativity than in moments of unrest, and as such these artists come equipped with the resonance of an unseen Pakistan.' The Pakistan Pavilion is also host to 'At the end of a Rainbow', which features the artistic collaboration of Dubai's manual workers and AUD students for a 6 week photographic workshop. This programme offers a rare glimpse into the experiences of migrant labourers whose hands have shaped the landscape of Dubai.

Images of works in this catalogue are accompanied by artist statements and artist biographies.
