The CAFE (Communicable Action for Everybody) in Mito Exhibition is a project that aims to create a place of exchange, like a cafe, where people can get together in a relaxed fashion through the medium of art. The artworks displayed in this exhibition will not merely be hung in the gallery for viewing, but will also be installed throughout the city of Mito, in hope to bring art to a wider audience.

One of the major objectives of CAFE in Mito 2004 was to launch a renovation project to reuse vacant buildings and houses. As well, Atelier Bow-Wew and the students of Tsukuba University have designed and carried out a project that analyzed Mito city. The present publication provides documentation of the various projects, explanatory texts of exhibited works, artist biographies and responses from audience and the press. Please note that some texts in the book are provided in Japanese only.
