This catalogue accompanies the retrospective exhibition of Chang-Sup Chung at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, 3 August – 17 October 2010. Among the first generation of artists educated in Korea after its liberation, Chang-Sup Chung was an influential abstract painter who experimented with Art Informel, monochrome painting, and Minimalism in a lifelong search for the identity of Korean art. He is especially known for his paper mulberry or 'tak' works, produced by adhering wet fibres extracted from the tree bark directly onto the canvas. This retrospective is the first exhibition of its kind to look back on the artist's achievements and contributions to Korean contemporary art.

Includes four essays, supplemented by artist's notes and past writings by critics. In Korean and English unless otherwise noted. With chronology and bibliography (in Korean only).
