This catalogue accompanied the exhibition 'Creation Anatomy' at the Gyeonggido Museum of Art (renamed as Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art in 2008) from July 19 to September 15, 2008.
The exhibition offered the viewer the opportunity to reflect on the nature of contemporary art by understanding the process of its creation.
'The Gyeonggido Museum of Art presents The Anatomy of Creation featuring recent works by 15 high-profile contemporary Korean artists along with their diverse narratives and work making methods. Unlike other art shows that exhibit only finished pieces, this exhibition, which is the third planned exhibition in 2008, "anatomises" the artistic process of work creation and its significance by displaying visual materials encapsulating the working process and idea development. Through work descriptions and the guidance of docents, viewers will be able to understand contemporary artwork by examining the ways in which artists pursue their art and their processes of creation. In this exhibition, understanding even difficult and seemingly inexplicable art pieces can be fun and interesting.' - from Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art website
