This video shows the Opening Ceremony and Open Forum of the HKU Fine Arts Festival 2006, on 26th September 2006.

As a postcolonial area, Hong Kong art is constantly struggling and asserting for its position in the art field. To encourage understanding and discussion on the topic, an attempt to think more deeply into the issue of how Hong Kong art position itself, through questioning who we are, where we are, and what our future will be, is raised. The forum would provoke new thoughts and discussion in the university and the local art field in order to draw attention from students and the public to the development of Fine Arts in Hong Kong in present days when Hong Kong is approaching its first decade after the handover in 1997.

Open forum guest speakers included Mr Tobias Berger (Executive Director / Curator of Para/Site Art Space), Mr Henry Au-yeung (Director of Grotto Fine Art) and Mr Jeff Leung (Independent Art Curator).
