Context
The Bangkok Biennial first took place between 1 July to 30 September 2018 and is a city-wide art exhibition showcasing an international range of works in a system of autonomous pavilions. According to its website, the Bangkok Biennial was 'set up as a challenge to the "authority" of institutionalised access to representation in art and curatorial practices' by using the concept of the pavilion as a participatory framework rather than emulating that of the Venice Biennale.
