This monograph accompanies an exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea which traces the fifty-year career of artist Kim Chong Hak. At a time when abstraction was the dominant trend in Korean art, Kim retreated to Seorak Mountain to focus on landscape painting, developing a 'rough and rustic but flamboyant' style in his portrayal of nature through the seasons. He is especially known for his vibrant paintings of flowers in full bloom.

Over 100 colour plates are included in this catalogue, from 1950s experimental pieces and the earliest paintings of the Seorak period to recent works. In addition to several essays, a section titled 'Research Material', comprising the artist's letters to his daughter, a chronology and a bibliography, is included.
