This catalogue is published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Murakami Versailles', held at Palace of Versailles from 14 September to 12 December 2012. Following the Jeff Koons in 2008 and Xavier Veilhan in 2009, Takashi Murakami 'is invited to present his works at Versailles. By creating new works for this occasion, Murakami's first retrospective in a French public institution, and adding them to existing ones from his repertoire, he is perpetuating Versailles' long tradition of encouraging creativity.'
