The exhibition was the second iteration of the South by Southeast initiative. It brought together 16 artists in total (5 from South Africa, 2 from the Caribbean, 7 from Asia/Southeast Asia, 2 from Hong Kong).
Releasing the regions from commonplace assumptions about their scope, the exhibition unburdened them from the legacies of the colonial theatre and Cold War geopolitics; prompting a reflection on how we reflect on the place of region in the contemporary.
