The 12th Istanbul Biennial explores the rich relationship between art and politics, focusing on works that art both formally innovative and politically outspoken. This volume comprises five essays by curators and art critiques on the theme, artists and art works in the Biennial. They are followed by a documentation of a conversation between the two curators, Jens Hoffmann and Adriano Pedrosa. The third section includes photos of the five group exhibitions of the Biennial.
