The 1899 Philippine-American War marked the beginning of United States' intervention in the Philippines.  The consequences of American colonialism in the Philippines, which lasted until 1946, continue to influence the Filipino-American relationships, from politics to pop culture and the arts.  Consisting of critical and visual art essays, archival and contemporary photographs, plays, and poetry, this anthology re-examines the official American account of its colonial history and addresses complexity of Filipino and American perspectives and experiences.  With brief biographies of the contributors, photography credits, and an index.  Only the artist contributors and their chapter headings are shown below.
