Ai Weiwei is one of the most provocative figures in contemporary Chinese art. He has been active in a wide variety of creative endeavors, not only in art but also architecture, landscape design, publishing and exhibition design. Published in conjunction with his first exhibition in Japan, this book includes some thirty important pieces, including Snake Ceiling, a new work commemorating the schoolchildren who lost their lives in the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake, in addition to architectural projects and photographs taken while Ai was residing in New York, presenting a panoramic view of his work.
