This is the catalogue for the exhibition of 15 contemporary Chinese artists in Amsterdam in 1998. The works, including paintings and photography, are mainly figurative and they are chosen to illustrate the development of contemporary art in China in the late 1990s. The accompanying essays provide a concise overview of the history of Chinese painting and brief descriptions of the exhibits. Artists’ biographies are also included.
