This catalogue accompanies the exhibition which travelled to the following venues: Contemporary Art Center, Art Tower Mito, Tokyo, August–September 2010; Artsonje Center, Seoul, December 2010–February 2011; Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest, Emu Plains, April–June 2011; and Ayala Museum, Makati City, August–October 2011. Once dismissed as children's entertainment, manga has in recent years gained increasing recognition as a form of artistic expression worthy of critical attention and academic study. The exhibition features nine Japanese manga artists and their works from the 2000s, presented in immersive installations. Background information on Japanese manga is provided in the three catalogue essays.
