'In January 2010, 12 held a preview to the second installment of its Archive series, which centered on the works of Mastura Abdul Rahman and Tengku Sabri Tengku Ibrahim. Like the first Archive project, 12’s team worked closely with the artists to excavate and reorganize their documented thoughts, materials, and artworks.

'Pre Archive 2’s publication entailed information and texts by the artists, as well as images of selected artworks from their two-decade career. Mastura’s seminal paintings merging elements from Malay vernacular architecture and female identity were included, and, Tengku Sabri’s multifarious oeuvre was represented with examples from his Teleng series (featuring deconstructions of the traditional Malay keris hilt) and his intricate mind maps.

'A small exhibition at 12 served as a taster for a full-blown Archive exhibition planned for a later date. Notable amongst the exhibits was the couple’s actual bookshelf, transported in its entirety into 12’s Resource Centre, which not only illustrated the artists’ intellectual processes, but also emblematized the Archive project on a whole: that artists encase not just their works, but also their entire lives for all to see.

'12 is in the midst of producing a comprehensive publication on the artists, as well as mounting a full-scale exhibition of the artists’ works. It is hoped the products of Archive will enhance curatorial practices in the country and encourage discourse amongst viewers.' (From organiser's website)
