This volume was published in conjunction with Bae Bien-U's solo exhibitions at the following venues in 2008-2009: Phillips de Pury & Company, London; the BOZAR Center for Fined Arts, Brussels; and the Galerie Zur Stockeregg, Zurich. For over two decades, Bae Bien-U has been photographing Korea's pine groves. Beginning with a selection of images taken near Gyeongju's Silla Dynasty burial mounds, this monograph assembles images from Bae's entire pinewood series. They were captured exclusively in a natural misty light. The photographs, predominantly black and white, date from 1985 to 2008. All are C-prints mounted on Plexiglas in artist's frames.
