'Inside/Out' is an exhibition that explores external and internal spaces in relation to the development of the city of Phnom Penh. Five photographers from SaSa Art Gallery created a series of images that explore the internal and private spaces of their homes, the people and objects in them. These images were displayed on 25 tuk-tuks (motorized rickshaw taxis) roaming the city, exposing the intimate images to the public. The gallery, on the other hand, displayed images of billboards depicting project developments that project a lifestyle of luxury. A complimentary installation by Kong Vollak was also featured there.
'Inside/Out' was a JavaArts project conceived by Dana Langlois. It was also part of 'Our City 2009, Month of Architecture and Urban Design, Phnom Penh', a collective project serving as a platform for the art community to respond to the rapid changes of their urban environment.
This booklet is comprised of notes by Olivia Hague and Kong Vollak, as well as news clippings on property development in Cambodia. An accompanying CD of images is available separately at CD.001186.
