Context

Excerpt from Inward Gazes: Documentaries of Chinese Performance Art 2012, The Macao Museum of Art, Macau S.A.R., 2012, p. 90: 'As always, I am present in my works. I show up in all kinds of attire with different behaviors to present certain realistic situations in life or moments when people connect with one another.

Through the imagination of our body, or the corresponding relationships with others in mind, I try to act them out with some situations in our daily lives. Resulting from the pre-selected scenarios and the unusual costumes, the characters, somehow, are noted for their bigoted and complicated emotions and experiences, which in turn highlight the conflicts in real life.

This time, I tried to play a role that had a flamboyant and sweet look, but was apparently 'blind-eyed'. Owing to the fact that she (the character) was unable to see, her body was under stress and acted with tension, which is to be expected when a person is wearing a blindfold. Yet, her blindness clearly exempted her from certain demands on one's body and mind.'
