'My Heart Laid Bare' is a multi-media installation, loosely based on one of the tales in Boccaccio's Decameron, but interpreted through the hyper-modern lens of Zhou Yi's artistic vision. Zhou Yi draws on and synthesizes wildly disparate material. On one hand, her narratives are firmly grounded in the tradition of classical Western allegory, but, on the other hand, her path-breaking technique of combining such old-fashioned technology as 35 millimeter film with 3D animation and compressed oxygen (aerogel) shatter conventional boundaries between art and science, classicism and modernity. Indeed, it is this combination of seemingly contradictory elements, executed with breathtaking visual deftness and poetic elegance, which are the hallmarks of Zhou Yi's work.

Chinese artist, Zhou Yi, is a leading video and installation artist based in Paris. Her works explore the relationship between humanity, civilization, nature and imagination, referencing literature, mythology, philosophy and new technology. Zhou's preferred media are 35mm film, digital animation, photography, sculpture, and drawing.
