'When stone was born, it was a dreamlike material, like clouds. Stone is made up of a wriggling cloud-like substance and its ever-changing motion. It is the story of a dream. The state of stone before it hardens, all gas and hot liquid—we must think about this, we must imagine! Stone-Tablets preserve this original dream-state of all stone.' - from the back cover

Featuring text and drawings by Shin Beomsun, this publication is an extension of Shin's project at Singapore Biennale 2022.

'Tales in Stone: In Search of the Language of Primordial Paradise is a collaborative project presented as a mixed media installation. The project centres on Shin Beomsum’s research surrounding petroglyphs, which are stone carvings or paintings made by removing part of a stone’s surface by picking, abrading or carving. Through this project, Shin explores the stories and mythologies that may have arisen from the images and patterns engraved on these stones. Alongside the presentation of the stones collected by Shin, the project also presents alternate imagery in the form of sketches by Shin as well as paintings by Koon Kwon, photographic prints by Kyoungtae Kim, and an optical viewing device designed by Sungeun Lee.' - description extracted from the Singapore Biennale website
