Held at the Hong Kong Arts Centre from 8 to 16 October 1985, the exhibition 'Shui Mo: The New Spirit of Chinese Tradition' showed representative early and recent works of 32 contemporary painters, who have been directly or indirectly influenced by the late master Lui Shou-kwan. It aimed to foster appreciation of the unique styles of the individual artists as well as give an overview of the development of Chinese ink painting in Hong Kong.

This catalogue includes a foreword by Lee Ju Jen (in Chinese only) and an essay by Petra Hinterthür. Biographical information of the artists accompany the plates of artwork.
