For the 52nd Venice Biennale there was no official New Zealand pavilion, however New Zealand artists were presented at the opening events in Venice in the present publication. Eight curators, all currently working in New Zealand, selected 30 artists using the simple speculative question ‘Which New Zealand artists could now or in the future be sent to the Venice Biennale to exhibit in the New Zealand pavilion?’ In the book, each selected artist has submitted six pages of work representing their practice. In addition, each artist is represented by a short essay and a biography.
