'For the work of this exhibition, Tuong strips modern buildings of their pristine, shiny facades and paints what lies beneath them. He focuses on the decaying, underlying surfaces of these structures and reveals that beneath these symbols of prosperity and development there exist simply slabs of cold concrete. Their glossiness fades as quickly as the buildings rise. In exposing their foundations, Tuong is highlighting not the structures but we humans ourselves.' - Quynh Pham
