This is a guide to the group exhibition of the same title held from May to August 2012 in Hong Kong, including Ai Weiwei, Frog King Kwok, Tehching Hsieh and Martin Wong. All artists featured, in addition to being ethnically Chinese, spent some time in New York to undertake their artistic practices. The exhibition explores how such a foreign experience could be formative to these artists, offers a critical reading of this period that was situated before the globalisation of contemporary art, as well as maps the connections and real encounters these artists had had while living in New York.
Includes an introductory essay and biographies of the artists.
