'This exhibition of "The Art of Chao Shao-an" presented by the Urban Council at the Hong Kong Museum of Art aims to introduce the accomplishments of a contemporary artist who is one of the most outstanding exponents of the Lingnan School. Moreover, through a study of the works of Chao Shao-an we hope to see more clearly the place Lingnan School painting occupies in the development of modern Chinese painting, and also the general direction that the senior Lingnan School artists are taking in their painting.' - excerpt from 'Introduction'
The exhibition brings together Chao's paintings and calligraphy created between 1953 to 1978. List of exhibits and artist biography are included in the catalogue.
