The Wind

Excerpt from Inward Gazes: Documentaries of Chinese Performance Art 2012, The Macao Museum of Art, Macau S.A.R., 2012, p. 74: 'The artist hopes to find the connection between individuals and cities through this work in search of the existence of individuality.

A very soft, smooth, and semi-transparent custom-made silk scarf with an ink wash pattern was used as a prop. As an Asian, I walked the streets of an ancient city in the West, experiencing in person these historical testimonies.

When the wind blew across the city, I covered my body with the long scarf, embracing the wind, which showed itself in a visible way: who knew whether we were sharing the same wind of those days? When everything fades amid the passing of time, only the present is real.'

The performance took place in Italy and Germany in June 2011.
