'West Heavens Exhibition: Place·Time·Play: India-China Contemporary Art' took place across two venues in Shanghai from 23 October to 20 December 2010. This exhibition, which aims at enabling audiences to encounter locations and histories across old and new borders, is a result of an unprecedented series of contacts, reciprocal visits and discussions involving artists, curators and intellectuals from India and China. For more than a century, challenges of imperialism and capitalism have forced India and China to develop strategies that have profoundly transformed both societies. It is valuable for Indian and Chinese artists to share this experience.
This book is a pocket-sized guide to the exhibition and includes images of artworks and descriptions by artists.
