This is the catalogue of the 2004 exhibition 'You Are My Sunshine: Korean Contemporary Art 1960-2004', held at Total Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul and organised by exhibition director Lee Young-chul. Part retrospective, part reconfiguration of the history of recent Korean art, this exhibition included works by artists active in the 1960s as well as those working today. The central premise behind the show was to bring artists of diverse generations together to create a non-linear, flexible way of looking at recent Korean art.
The exhibition catalogue includes transcriptions of video interviews with 16 Korean art critics, curators and artists; newspaper and magazine clippings on art movements; and additional images of 44 non-participating Korean artists. Aside from the essay listed in 'Chapter Heading' and a few newspaper clippings, most of the documentation, together with the artists' biographies, are provided in Korean only.
