Catalogue of joint exhibition at the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Goethe-Institut in 2006. The first phase of the Cruel / Loving Bodies project brought together artists from China, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom to reflect upon the interrelated issues of gender and body, particularly in the context of China and the Chinese diaspora. The second phase Cruel / Loving Bodies 2 at the Hong Kong Arts Centre reunites the original core group, joined by two new Hong Kong-based artists (Zheng Bo and Rosanna Li), to create an evolving visual conversation about the complexities and tensions surrounding conceptions of the body, gender, and cultural identity.

The present catalogue of Cruel / Loving Bodies 2 includes preface by Sasha Suling Welland and artist biographies. Images of works are accompanied by individual texts. Other participating artist includes Neil Conroy.
