From T▇▇ 謝▇; 'Disguised as a Hong Kong softcore magazine, Salty Wet is a chapbook of smut and affect, a first volume of a subsequent series, in a collaboration between Speculative Space and Inpatient Press. It takes the form of an anti-travelogue essay on distance and desire within and without Hong Kong. Combining writing, screenshots, and film stills, the essay poses questions about how to forge care for a place from afar, especially one as mythical as Hong Kong is in the cultural consciousness. Beyond the narratives of history and news journalism, Salty Wet attempts to reconcile the paradox between the lived and hypermediated experience of political entropy.'
Created on 9 July 2019, the zine was made during and in response to the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill protests.
