The 52nd Venice Biennale (2007) includes the works of two Thais. They share the same theme of slowing down globalisation. Amrit Chusuwan's large installation of sand and Nipan Oranniwesa's relief maps of talcum powder are works of flyaway materiality that encourage visitors to take pause and reflect life's impermanence and fragility in an age of rapid urban growth. Works by several other artists include themes of conflict, war and death, all in keeping with the larger theme of the Biennale, "Think with the Senses--Feel with the Mind".
