In the present exhibition catalogue, Zhang Hong, also known as Arnold Chang (Zhang Hong is the name he uses as an artist), traces his involvement in the art of Chinese ink painting since his first encounter with the art form when he was a sixth grade student. Having studied Chinese art history with James Cahill and ink painting with C.C. Wang (renowned painter-connossieur-authenicator of classical Chinese ink painting), Zhang Hong is one of very few contemporary artists whose artworks are grounded firmly in the literati tradition of China. Artist biography is included.
