Four Singaporean artists who have been chosen to represent the country at the Venice Biennale in June 2007 are profiled: sound artist Zulkifle Mahmod, multidisciplinary ceramic artist Jason Lim, mixed-media/installation/performance artist Vincent Leow, and performance artist Tang Da Wu. The article focuses on the possible increase in prices and demand for the artists' works post-biennial. Artists participating in past Venice Biennales have given artists greater exposure in the international art world, resulting in more exhibition opportunities, and sometimes greater demand from private collectors. SooBin Art Gallery is underwriting four sculptures that are part of Vincent's Leow's installation, the first time a commercial art gallery is sponsoring a Singaporean's participation in the Biennale. With a budget of 700,000, the Singapore Pavilion is the most costly overseas visual arts project sponsored by the National Arts Council. Three of the four artists will also appear in the Italian mens' fashion magazine, L'Uomo Vogue.
