‘Memeseum of Contemporary Art Bangkok’ is an Instagram account that describes itself as ‘Art worker criticising Thai Art World through memes’. As it name suggests, it is a parody of the idea of museum to memeseum. Museum has long been honored as the grand cathedral of art and culture, the keeper and protector of history and its archive. Judging from how frequent visitors treat museums as their holy ground of culture and the anger towards the increasing amount of climate protests within the past months, the mass public show their empathy towards the wrecked artworks (that are mostly protected within a museum-grade glass), we can assume that artworks are considered the artifacts of history. This would never have happened if someone attempts to destroy a meme.
