This catalogue is published in conjunction with the exhibition "Rolling Space", from June 23 to July 31, 2004 at the Marrionnier Art Center of the Korean Culture & Arts Foundation Seoul.
This exhibition 'Rolling Space' looks into and interprets the various conceptual and physical layers of space that we experience in our daily lives. Space is regarded as the organic entity through which, there is the ability to create and change.
The exhibition examines the space, its people, relations between people and the communication amongst them. The exhibition was collaboration between architects who design spaces for everyday life adn artist who created works by their means of special formative techniques.
They started from their own field of work, analyzed the physical structure of the space or tried conceptual approach to the space. The space, space in-between, meaning of the space or the undecided nature of the space, which emerges during the work process, reminds us of the generalized and habitual ways of our perception. The shape of space is determined by the perceivers or the audiences.
And the exhibition space is read as a kind of landscape, which acts as the mediator between the artist, work and audiences. It is possible to rediscover the space where we breathe and live when the audience 'walks and relaxes' in the exhibition space.
Artist biographies are included.
