Catalogue of solo exhibition by Sheba Chhachhi at Nature Morte, New Delhi in 2007. A long-time chronicler of the women’s movement in India, both photographer and activist, Sheba Chhachhi moved from documentary practice to developing collaborative, staged photographic portraits with her subjects in the early nineties. Questions about her own role as photographer, control over the power of representation and the illusory objecctivity of photojournalism, led her to experiment with developing collaborative, staged photographic portraits with her subjects.
