'One of China’s leading young artists is Shanghai based photographer Yang Yongliang. In the past few years Yang’s works have been heralded the world over. From the British Museum in London to our very own National Gallery of Victoria his photographic prints have been praised for his contemporary refiguring of the classical Chinese landscape.

'His two new series Viridescence and Snow City cast the modern Chinese city in new light yet again. Bathed in green and blue and blanketed in snow the intricate landscapes appear as illusions. With thousands of images of Chinese cities stitched together to form landscapes that appear to be drawn with ink Yang’s techniques and historical allusion make his work some of the most sought after in the contemporary Chinese art market. Punctuating his most recent series are highlights from his previous series, which prove to solidify Yang as one of China’s most astute and exciting young artists.
