The catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition, 'Yangon Made My Heart Beat Fast": New Contemporary Art from Myanmar. According to the curator, Melissa Carlson's essay, the exhibit 'explores the blossoming of individual expression, creativity, and the emergence of new voices and viewpoints in an evolving Myanmar.' and 'brings together works from eight of Myanmar's most compelling experimental artists working across a range of media, including painting, photography, paper cuts, and performance. The artists ... represent multiple generations of artists who share a common interest in working on subject matter and formats outside the realist schools of art favoured by the previous military governments.'
