Steeped in tradition and bounded by cultural and historical attributes, Chinese ink painting is also the most dynamic contemporary art form. Landscapist, figure-painter and conceptualist alike are taking the medium to the next level, combining its inherited repertoires with Post-modernist theories. This talk introduces several leading ink painters whose works examine both the diversities and contemporary potentials of the Chinese tradition.

About the speaker
Henry Au-yeung is director of Grotto Fine Art Ltd., a specialist in contemporary Hong Kong art. Henry holds B.A. in Sculpture (SUNY StonyBrook, New York) and M.A. in 20 th Century Chinese Art History (UC Santa Barbara, California) degrees and has worked in the art industry for 12 years. He gives regular lectures with topics ranging from contemporary Chinese art history, gallery studies, to the commercial aspect of art.
