This catalogue was published in conjunction with the First International Women's Art Festival held at Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts from 8 May - 27 July 2003. Organised by the museum and Taiwan Women's Art Association (founded in 2000), the exhibition introduces art works by women artists from in and outside Taiwan, emphasising exploration and impressions of art and contemporary techonological life and culture.
The other contents of the festival included: an international symposium, the Southern Taiwan Women's Art Workshop and a series of lectures etc. Simultaneously art galleries and spaces in Kaohsiung held exhibitions and activities addressing women's art, adding more colours to the festival.
With prefaces by Tchen Yu-chiou (Minister of Council for Cultural Affairs, Executive Yuan), Fan Hsun-lu (Political Vice Minister of Ministry of Education), Kuan Bi-ling (Director of Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government) and Chang Hwei-lan (President of Taiwan Women's Art Association). Biographic notes of artists and curator, an introduction of Taiwan Women's Art Association are included at the back of the catalogue.
