This is a catalogue for Japanese artist Toko Shinoda's solo exhibition. Influences from Oriental calligraphic expression and the Abstract Expressionism movement in the West can be traced from Shinoda's bold yet crisp vertical and horizontal strokes and feathery shadings of grey in her paintings and lithographs. These qualities give her works a sense of tranquillity, which, according to the curator of the exhibition, is a requisite of her works and her working environment. An artist biography is included.
