'Art on the Move' was conceived by Vivan Sundaram as a public art project for SAHMAT. The project ran from 5 March to 25 March 2001, across various locations in New Delhi. Visual artists were invited to engage with and develop works around mobile structures commonly used in cities in India for functional purposes, and respond to themes such as the city as a space for multiple identities, the idea of home and shelter in metropolises, and the different manifestations of globalisation.
