This folder consists of reproductions of a small part of Gao’s experimental ink paintings in the mid-1980s, and photographs of Ecology: Asexual Reproduction, a series of mixed-media works Gao worked on from 1996 to 2018.
Gao Bo, artist and art educator, was born in Chengxian county of Gansu Province in 1963. From 1978 to 1982, Gao studied at the Department of Fine Arts of Northwest Normal University, specialising in traditional Chinese painting. In 1984, Gao organised his first solo exhibition in Lanzhou, which featured his experimental ink paintings. In 1987, he participated in Rolling on Canvas. In 1988, Gao went to Beijing to attend a study programme at Central Academy of Fine Arts. He gained a teaching position at the Department of Fine Arts of Northwest Normal University in 1994. During the 1990s, Gao installed his works in public places in Lanzhou. In recent years, his works are frequently featured in contemporary art exhibitions held in Lanzhou. Gao is now an Associate Professor at the Art Academy of Northwest Normal University.
