"Clippings" consists of two subseries. The first subseries, "On Contemporary Art," contains 83 articles published in English, Chinese, French, and Italian in China, Hong Kong, America, and Europe between 1986 and 2005. The majority of these are news reportage and reviews on contemporary Chinese art exhibitions and articles on Chinese artists, published in English newspapers and magazines during the 1990s. Highlights include 17 articles on Chinese art and artists published in China Daily, an English-language daily newspaper owned by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China and published in China, dating from 1986 to 1991, and a clipping from Flash Art (No.175, published in May 1993), which included articles by Li Xianting and Kong Chang'an. The articles are among the earliest English texts on Chinese avant-garde art in a major European art magazine. The second subseries, "On General Chinese Art and Culture," contains 57 articles published in newspapers and magazines published in China, Hong Kong, the U.S., and Italy between 1986 and 2005, the majority of which are English articles published in the China Daily during the early 1990s.
