The Baby Talk/Infant Tongue

Excerpt from Relating: Wang Gongxin’s Video Art, Timezone 8 Limited, Beijing, 2010, p 26:

'A projector is hanged from the ceiling, playing images of the facial expression of six adults: the parents, the paternal grandparents and the maternal grandparents, teasing and playing with a baby. These images are projected on the surface of a baby-bed, which is actually a mini pool filled with milk. In the middle of the pool there is a circulatory system, which pumps and drains the milk. The only sound is from the running of milk. This work was first shown in China’s first video art exhibition 'PHENOMENA & IMAGE', which took place in China Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou, 1996.'
