Typed manuscript of a paper which artist K.G. Subramanyan presented at the seminar titled 'Sixty Years of Visva-Bharati: Its Art Heritage', organised by Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, in 1980. The seminar was held to mark the sixtieth anniversary of Visva Bharati University.
The sixtieth anniversary of the Visva Bharati University was celebrated by the inauguration of the new Nandan Art Gallery, and the seminar titled 'Sixty Years of Visva-Bharati: Its Art Heritage' held at the university in 1980. Prof. Amalan Dutta served as the Vice Chancellor of University.
Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was present on the occasion to inaugurate the Gallery. As K.G. Subramanyan recalled in a conversation with AAA Researcher in 2014, Mrs. Gandhi had insisted, by the time after she was re-elected into the position, that she wanted to formally re-inaugurate the building. Later on, she had become the Chancellor of Visva Bharati University.
