Soler Santos' Stratus 007, created in 2008.
The work is part of his solo exhibition 'Stratus', curated by Roberto Chabet at Finale Art Gallery, SM Megamall from 18 September to 7 October 2008.
Excerpt from the exhibition press release:
'In 'Stratus', Soler Santos offers a twin view of dread, drought and despair in his every canvas, the sky a threatening commotion of colors while beneath it is a rectangle of gnarled, exhausted branches that evoke inevitable cycles and the hostile emptying of seasons. Lessons in nature's terrifying and swift finalities, the works are pure from any subtext and irony, thus eschatological in their mood and manner, stirring at the viewer a combination of dread and white-heat wonder.'
