The First Bardo (Exhibition Preparation) (Set of 7 Photographs)

Compilation of photographs taken during the installation of Jet Melencio's The First Bardo at Mo_space, 30 September 2010.

The work was included in 'The Clear Light', curated by Roberto Chabet at Mo_space from 2 - 31 October 2010. The other participating artists are Pardo de Leon and Jed Escueta.

Excerpt from the exhibition notes:
'Jet Melencio goes full circle with his map works, beginning with the idea of photographing the gallery's floor and ending finally with tracings, one of the earliest forms of representation. Entitled The First Bardo, the first stage of death when 'one momentarily enjoys a perfect balance before descending to the lower states', the work, appropriately installed on stilted tables, alludes not only to the tremulous quality of the surface/image but also to the instability of the human consciousness.'
