2002 Trapdoors and False Bottoms (A Set of 29 Documentations)

A compilation of images relating to the exhibition 'Trapdoors and False Bottoms', presenting thesis works by Roberto Chabet's students from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts (UP CFA). The show was curated by Chabet at West Gallery from 22 February to 8 March 2002.

This album comprises a press release for the exhibition (image 1). The rest of the images are artwork documentations; notable artists and their works include Lui Medina (image 2-4) and Jet Pascua (5-6).

The exhibition featured the works of Marina Cruz, Butch Estandarte, Bonacoeli Guerzon, Lui Medina, Jet Pascua, Grace Tenorio, and Paulo Vinluan.

Excerpt from the press release:
''Trapdoors and False Bottoms' explores what has been called the treachery of images and the linguistic pitfalls that imperil the reading of even the most illusionistic representation. The exhibition investigates the tenuous line that divide seemingly polar categories as realism and abstraction, metaphor and literalism, representation and presentation, underscoring the ambivalence and ambiguities that allow for a multiplicity of perceptions and interpretations.'
