This folder contains full unedited version of the audio interview with Salima Hashmi by AAA project researcher Samina Iqbal, alongside the interview transcript. The interview took place on 23 May 2017.

Salima Hashmi reminisces about her days as a student at Lahore College for Women and then later at the National College of Arts Lahore (NCA) when she joined the school in 1960. At the same time, her father had joined the Lahore Arts Council in Alhamra. Lahore at the time was a cultural hub for artists from across Pakistan with its organisation of various cultural activities such as theatre shows, poetry readings, musical nights, and art and craft shows. Hashmi shares her experiences as a student at the NCA as well as her involvement in Alhamra theatre which she continued participating in until she moved to England and enrolled at the Bath Academy of Art in 1962. In Corsham, Hashmi was given the opportunity to travel, explore her creative potential, and work alongside the likes of Sheila Hicks. Hashmi returned to Pakistan in 1965 to get married and joined the NCA as faculty, but returned to England for a brief interlude of three years. After, she returned to the NCA as permanent faculty in the Fine Arts Department.
